As it is well known, the Hungarian government, led by Viktor Orbán, once again prevented this year that the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), established by the Council of Europe twenty years ago, make its annual corruption report accessible in Hungary. It is not the first time, Fidesz prohibits that the expert organization monitoring based on objective facts publish its findings obviously shameful to our country due to the mafia-like operation of the Orbán-government.
MSZP MEP István Ujhelyi is outraged that Fidesz is trying to hide the otherwise unhideable with sneaky measures. Therefore, today, the Socialist politician sent a written request to GRECO President Marin Mrčela stating that Hungarian people have the right to know the findings of the report in their country, and thus, by overriding the decision of the Fidesz-government, he initiates the publishing of the report as soon as possible. In the letter, Ujhelyi emphasized that if there was no legal possibility for this, he would ask for an official insight into the document in his capacity as MEP.
