Orbán Takes Tens of Thousands of Forints from School Children

Orbán Takes Tens of Thousands of Forints from School Children
The government, which promotes itself as being family-friendly on billboards for several billions of forints, has taxed the school starting support, part of the so-called cafeteria allowance system, to the degree that it is no longer worthwhile for employers to make this benefit available to their employees.

With this, Fidesz steals an average HUF 20-40 thousand from families per child.

Children starting school is an increasing burden for parents every year, nonetheless, the Orbán government had no problem cutting support. This has led to a boom in the personal loans market at the end of the summer, in which unfortunately starting school plays a big part.

Instead of lying and loans, there could be a real solution provided for families. The cafeteria system must be reinstated, the family allowance increased, and families must be given an additional one-month family allowance in August to reduce the burden of starting school.
